Polar Align
Privacy policy
Effective 20 October 2026
Polar Align does not collect, store or share any personal information. Everything the app does happens on your device.
Information the app uses
- Location. Your latitude, longitude and elevation are used to work out where the celestial pole is in your sky and to correct for magnetic declination.
- Compass and motion sensors. Your phone's compass and tilt sensors are used to measure where your mount is pointing.
This information is read live on your device while you use the app. It is never sent off your device.
Information stored on your device
Your settings, such as your mount mode and compass calibration, are saved on your phone so they're ready next time you open the app. They never leave your device and are removed when you delete the app.
What the app doesn't do
- No accounts or sign in
- No analytics or tracking
- No advertising
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone
- No sending of your data to any server
Permissions
You can turn location access off at any time in your phone's Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Location Services. Without location access the app can't work out where the celestial pole is.
Children
Because the app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, it doesn't collect any from children.
